SRMPmachine: Preparing High School Students for Careers in Machine Learning through Mentored Research

The goal of SRMPmachine is to create spaces and experiences for youth to imagine themselves as the future of machine learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and STEM more broadly. SRMPmachine innovates within the Science Research Mentoring Program (SRMP), the flagship STEM workforce development project of the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH). Since 2009, SRMP has provided NYC high school students with year long research internships alongside a mentor-scientist. SRMPmachine creates opportunities for high schoolers to learn and apply machine learning (ML) to scientific problems in the natural sciences.
