Planned Giving

A growing number of generous Museum members and friends are helping the Museum prepare for the future by making a planned gift or bequest to the Museum. The information that follows suggests ways to provide a lasting legacy to the American Museum of Natural History, thereby enriching the lives of many generations to come. By making a planned gift or bequest to the American Museum of Natural History you can:

Museum members and friends committed to ensuring the Museum's future for generations to come with their planned gifts are automatically inducted into the Museum's legacy society, the Jesup Society. This recognition society is named after Maria DeWitt Jesup—wife of renowned Museum President Morris K. Jesup—who left a significant legacy of $5 million in 1912 (the equivalent of $100 million today) through her bequest.

Members of the Jesup Society receive the member newsletter, Life's Great Gifts, which highlights upcoming Museum exhibitions and their curators, offers timely information on tax law and tax benefits, as well as gift planning, and features stories about remarkable individuals who have left legacy plans for the Museum. Members also receive invitations to exhibition openings and exclusive Museum events.

For more information on joining the Jesup Society through a planned gift or bequest, call the Museum's Planned Giving Office at (212) 769-5119, send an email, or write to:
